    Info on Saxon Albrechtsorden?

Just picked up this Saxon ribbon bar today:

What are the criteria for the Albrechtordens (even in general "bravery medal" terms), and is there a specific class of that award represented here?

    Thanks in advance,

What You have there is either a Albert knight 2nd class with swords given to Lt/1stLt ranks or a knight 1st class given to Captains.

Since the Saxons had no EK equivalent they used the Albert as their initial and general decoration for Officers. With swords it could be bravery and also "just" war merits.

    Best regards

    Daniel

        Daniel (or anyone else)...

After 1876, when the Albrechtorden 2nd class was introduced, was it retroactive to past engagements such as the FP war of 1870?

        Thanks,
        Brian

          Hi Brian,

          no retroactive awards were done.

          Best regards
