          Hello Konrad:

Congratulations regarding this item! It is an original piece and the case is original. Carefully look at the cylinder (between the arms) and on the bottom arm to see if there are any maker's marks. This type of RAO4 was issued from approximately 1892 until 1918. Although not rare, these are beautiful and well-made awards.

          Best regards

It happens to all of us -- welcome

You have a very nice RAO. To be honest I am not qualified to say if it's good or bad, but it looks great. I bought my first one just over a year ago, and discovered after I bought it that it was marked WILM on the barrel. So look closely!

            Here is mine:

Be careful, these eagles tend to multiply if you don't watch itYour item would date to about 1910, judging from the style of case. I'd say it's a good one.

The imperial bug collecting can be a tough bug to shake. Before you know it you will be collecting named medal bars like the one below to Gen. d. Inf and RK holder Werner Kienitz

                    Hello again Konrad:

The "FR" mark therefore indicates that the piece is by Friedlander.

                    Best regards
