for combattants (because of the swords - it`s also a foreign award)

    are there any other opinions?
Would this not be the correct order of precedence for a post-Anschluss medal bar?

Very nice by the way Jimmy.

Right - one point for you. The Gebr. Godet bar possibly dates in 1938 following.

I am fairly confident that J. Godet was sold to J. H. Werner, and that Gebrüder Godet was created in 1931 as a co-existing entity. After that, I believe that the old J. Godet firm ceased to function as a standalone entity. I have what I believe is sufficient evidence to support this contention, and I will make some time in the next few weeks to lay it all out in a separate thread.

I have considered all (or most of) the contingencies you mentioned, with the exception of its impact on the PLM debate. Interesting indeed.

          1931 Berlin Phonebook:

I was curious if there was any discussion concerning the two Godet firms, as I found some information in my 1941 Berlin phone directory. But to find it in an Imperial forum is a bit off the subject.

As of 1941, two Godet firms were listed: Gebr. Godet & Co. on Charlottenstr. and J. Godet & Sohn KG on Unter der Linden. Regarding a possible merger, I do not find a J.H. Werner in the directory, but I did find I.H. Werner, Vereinigte Juweliers GmBH listed. No address, just the listing.

Hi Joe, I and J were interchangable back then.

Don, I realize that often I was printed as a J in certain circumstances. Nevertheless, in the alpha listing I.H. Werner appears before the beginning of any Werner names with a full Christian name starting with I, as well as before any listing beginning with J like Julius.

Sorry for offtop...Looks like J.Godet company definitely belonged to J.H.Werner from the end of 20ies...here is an advertisement from 1930.

Don, my mistake as there obviously was a misprint in the phone book as I found in a subsequent address listing below.

Trevor, some additional info is found. J.H. Werner is listed as part of the separate listing for Vereinigte Juweliers GmBH in the phone book. But also listed was the firm Sy & Wagner. Apparently they were also part of the merger of the jewelry firms. The address for Vereinigte Juweliers GmBH was the same a J.Godet & Sohn, at U.d.Linden 53. Some internet information indicates that Sy & Wagner disappeared after WWI.
