    Hi Michel,

I can understand why you are confused -- my wording was a bit difficult. I was trying to say:

I have read that all 'PM' marked discs are fakes, and I have never seen anyone refute it.

However, given Mike Kenny's spirited rejoinder above, and Brad's nice EK1, I can no longer say that!

To be honest I have not put much thought into the subject. But I now believe they are authentic pieces, that have also been copied, as I defer to Mike's judgment on them.
    Best regards,
    Streptile

      Trevor,

I can post some better photos of mine it will help - for comparison purposes. I do believe mine to be 100% the real deal, as yours is, and a beauty to boot!

I look forward to any discussion as I want to know everything - which is impossible - but this forum has been the best educational tool I can think of. So better to hash it out here and try and sort out what is and what is not. I have seen Meybauer pieces "Frankensteined" into other screw-back EKs, but with our two EKs I think that Meybauer must have varied the stamps they put on their EKs. Anyway, this is something to discuss and it would be good to see other examples of Meybauer EKs.

The cores of both of our EKs are the same IMO. I think that Meybauer may have simply used different stampings at different times or they may have varied the stampings within the firm itself between the different individuals assembling these EKs.

Who knows, but maybe we can define what is a Meybauer, and what is not.

Again, your Meybauer is a really nice piece!!

      Brad

Great looking piece. One example I will have to add eventually. As for the cleaning, the patina will eventually return. I have been collecting about 5 years now and some of the crosses I have had for a few years appear to have darkened a little from when I first had them.
