The BB&Co is a German made private purchase piece. The other is a Turkish issue piece I believe. There was no "Officer" version per se.

Both are fine and textbook examples- shame about the stripped paint on the turkish issue badge

        Hi Don:

The BB&Co is a German made private purchase piece.
Do you have proofs for that?

Why it could not have been handed out officially?

I'm not aware of the Turks making an enameled Iron Half Moon.

It is not the question of making the medal.

I had a large lot of decorations of a German family with several high ranked (GdI) and high decorated Generals (PlM/OL) for assessment.

One "General der Infanterie" had for example both Imtiyaz Medals in the original case and the Osmanie Order 1st class; and he had the BB&Co War Medal (Gallipoli Star) in a red cardbox case.

I don't think, that he bought the medal.

I agree with Uwe. The BB&Co ones are even found in Bulgarian groups...

I think they may be German made, but I'm sure they were awarded.

Not awarded by the Turks. Perhaps the German Commander ordered them for award instead of the Turkish painted ones......
