    what are yall's opinions on this bar? i believe it is from the 19th century

    Hello John:

    You are correct, this group is from the 19th Century. The first award is a Prussian 1866 Cross commemorating the battle of Königratz and the second award is a Prussian 1870-71 Campaign Medal. Both awards were struck from bronze from smelted captured enemy cannon. This group is 100% original. The owner died prior to 1897 and did not receive the Centennial Medal.

      Or did just not remount it. The bar, however, pre-dates 1897.

        Nice bar, I would like to pick one of these up someday.

        This is pure conjecture, but- since they are missing- the owner also could have died before 1895, which is when they authorized the combatant bars (Gefechtsspangen zur Kriegsdenkmünze) for the Franco-Prussian War medal. Either that, or he just didn't feel like buying them to put on the ribbon.
