And the träger of the bar is ......... drum roll please.............

    Wilhelm Graf von Mirbach-Harff

He is listed, with his awards, in the 1918 Prussian Staate and Hof Handbook. He was the ambassador to Russia in 1918 and was murder by the leftist. For more information here is an entry from wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_von_Mirbach

His awards are listed below. There was a bow on the RAO3. He did not have time, before he died, to add the EK2 to his bar. The WF1 is a neck order.

This ID was done by Rick Research.

Wow. Now that is an ID. I'm just reading Isaac Deutscher's Stalin biography, but would not have thought to find a connection to Russian 1917 Revolution here in German Imperials.

        Great job, thanks!

While WF2a and WF2b are neck decorations, a WF1 is usually worn on a sash.

Are these "bows" sewn on? I looked at the bar again today in the sun light with a loop and there are a couple tiny holes in the ribbon in the aera near the ring that looks like thread holes. Alex

Sometimes Rick just amazes me with his ability to find these guys.

Pass along another "Well done" from me as well

Wowza. Well done, Rick. And as if dying wasn't bad enough, this guy gets assassinated? It's a fascinating part of history.

Shame - a non com ek2 would have made this bar even more awesome than it already is!

Also, what a damn shame we lost Rick... Still, great to know he is happy to participate in helping members of the collecting community no matter what their forum of preference.

Hats off to you too as well Paul - you are a real asset to this place.

                      Respect gentlemen...
