Need help with imperial beer stein...

    Hi,

Can anybody give me some information about this imperial
Ulanen beer stein and also estimate his value ???? I am a absolutely novice at such things. Especially the name of the Regiment which you can see on the first photo under the words "Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" would interest me.

    Liebe Grüsse,
    celt

Hello Celt, the stein is from the Ulan Reg't. 'Grand Duke Friedrich of Baden' (Rhenish) No. 7. The Garrison town in 1914 was Hanau (should be on the stein along with dates of service-3years). The Reg't. was formed in 1813. The owner was assigned to the 5th eskadron (squadron) of the Reg't. Several of the photos did not download and so I can't give you much more info. The name of the reservist on the front would be found on the roster of names on the back of the stein (if it has a roster). Didn't see the top of the lid but the finial should be a ulan (with motorboard helmet 'tschapka'). Does it have a roster? Are there any cracks or chips to the body of the stein? Are any of the colors or letter transfers faded? these factors would impact the value. If clean and undamaged, this stein would have a market value of $500-650 US. Let me know if you need any specific info.

    Good luck,

      Bobby,

I am not an expert but think to know for sure that Hanau was garrison of Thüringische Ulanen-Reigment No. 6 since I was born there and the Kaserne is still standing.

Maybe You got in the wrong line while checking a List?

Hello Johannes, oops, hard for a blind chicken to read his text! The 7th was, in fact, at Saarbrucken and was raised in 1734. this is what happens when you get in a hurry. Sorry and hope you enjoy the world of Reg't steins.
