Info on this photo please.

I'm posting this photo for Sebastain G. He would like some info on the type of uniform this fellow is wearing. I'm sure he'll join this thread soon and elaborate.

Well, he's a German private, circa 1914-1918....

Seriously though, what exactly does he want to know?
Also, it'd help to see the buttons up close and what I (squint, squint) think are the fleigercorps props on the epalettes.

That's the simplified early war M1910 tunic with button tab cuffs instead of the pre-war 3 or 2 buttons cuffs. From his cockade and cap band, I'd say non-Prussian, and either artillery or pioneers originally. Certainly looks like a winged propellor over a single number to me too--

but (like most personnel) he was not originally in the Fliegertruppen, because he has no "Garde" collar Litzen.

The buttons would tell us if he was a Bavarian (lions) rather than all the other states.

Definately a bavarian with their 1910 simplified cuff, sewn in w/o piping and with closure button. Prussia used an unpiped barrel cuff (like the m-15) and wurttemberg "simplified" their cuff from brandenburg to swedish, including keeping the two buttons and piping.

Appears that the shoulder straps were sewn into the shoulder seams and the non-prussian kokarde which also would indicate bavarian.
