A dark but interesting photograph captioned as being "in the trenches at Ypres".
The soldier on the extreme left of the photograph is wearing the stirnpanzer amoured frontal plate attached to his helmet, which in itself makes this shot a bit more interesting. However, what about the helmeted soldier third from left (the guy with his head below the parapet)? Is this a shot of the "square-dip" helmet being worn, or is it another maker's variation of the standard M1916? I realise the photo is fairly dark.
Sorry to revisit the old "Is it or isn't it square-dip" debate, but I would welcome other Forum members' opinions.
