KuK item of interest

I have had this for a while, but do not know much about KuK militaria.

Interesting to note the Bavarian "Treue Fest" underneath the photo.

If anyone can eloborate on this type of chronic in general I would be very gratefull.

Quite a sad piece there. The soldier looks like a child.

Unfortunately there is no birth date like on most of the German ones, so we do not know how old he was, but certainly he did not make it into his 20's.

I guess that is the sad part about every war, young men in the prime of their life giving their lives for their country. It happens on the other side too. I just lost my partner for the last 12 years to cancer and I am not really sure what to do now that she is gone…..

That is why I am digging out all of these pieces – to keep me busy.

Sorry to hear your bad news, Brad. My mother and my girlfriend both survived cancer a couple of years ago, and it got my dad as well, so I know where you're coming from. It's always good to hang around with a bunch of fellow crazies to pass the time

what an impressing rememberance towards the early days of the great war.

The print itself is surely german made and was thought for remembering

fallen german soldiers - that is why the iron cross is so dominant.

First i thought this may indicate an very rare iron cross award to an austrian

soldier in december 1914 but he wears no cross and no ribbon. If he would

have got it posthumesly i think the would mention it in the describing text

or would have added a paintd iron cross on his picture.

So i guess they just bought it cause they liked it.

Thanks for the information about the KuK item and I really appreciate the condolences on my recent loss.

I will try to keep busy here in the WAF. It is a good place to forget about everything else going on.
