    Hello friends,

first I´d like to thank you all for your interest in this thread and for your comments. To answer your question if the frame is frosted I took new photos without flashlight. For me it´s not frosted but just in good condition.

    Best wishes

    Joerg

        1930's Pieces

I'm not sure this is logically possible. Franco Prussian war was in 1870-1. Backing up from 1871 the youngest vet was born in 1853. That makes the youngest 80 years old when Hitler became Chancellor. That's the youngest vet.

From looking at the records and history of one regiment in depth and reading about other general awardees, the EK was primarily awarded to officers and Feldwebels.

Add at least 5 years now to the age and you've got the more likely EK recipient at 85 in 1933.

Couldn't have been much 1870 full size EK demand. Near zero I would think. Leftover stock would seem to be sufficient.

I've come to the conclusion that most of these newer looking pieces are from 1895 when the battle bars, oaks to EKII and Kaiser Jubilee came out creating a rush of demand for new EK's and medal bars.

        Thoughts?

          Here's a thought

Maybe there was a collectors market for these in the 1930s (or whenever)?

            another thought

These could also have been made for a shop display or some other patriotic display purposes?

Were there any regs enforced before the 1941 LDO?

Sometimes I wonder how much the regs were enforced after the 1941 LDO....

Why thank you, Bill. I am working on it.. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
