restart off an old 1870 thread

I started this old thread again as I found some real good pictures off an ek 1914
that ,,I think should be shown in relation off the Lemcke& Lauer 1870 discussion
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...73#post4141873,,,

as we are seeing a so called Schwert Nadel design 1870 type off cross
that has being excepted as prospect fore an L&L made ek

and is being seen as copy in the 1914 era ( as far as I know )

differences between the crosses and pin ,,Yes

but I wood like to see close-ups off the inner corners off both ek's
to be examine in how far they are similar ,,,,and may be both L&L designs
    or not ...

maybe the 1914 is just an item that should in the copy file ,,but ok ,,I wondered

    regards kay

The fake 1914EK1 has a very different crown to the 1870 LL you show.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

I know ,,,it is the design off the pin that makes me wonder

did the fakers used the 1870 as a design example ?

wy is that 1914 a fake ,,wen was it expelled as copy ..

the 1870 iron core is the only thing I am comfortable with looking at these two crosses

The pin on the 1914 is a reasonable facsimile of the Lauer, but I believe the 1914 is a total fake, unfortunately.

              Hi Kay

I don't think the pin on the 1870 'Lauer' can be used as a comparison with anything, as it is fairly obviously an enhanced (filed/decorated) version of something a lot plainer.

The way the middle of the pin is ground down at each side and the 'bobbles' at the pin-tip point to an enhancement of a pin much closer resembling the broad flat pin used by Godet on their 1870 EK1's. When this enhancement was done is guesswork, but I have 3 Lauers on file and not one has anything close to a 'standard' pin type. All 3 pins are different and could be described as 'enhanced'....

For what it's worth as well, the frames on the 1870 Lauers I have on file bare no resemblance to the 1914 EK1 you post, which I also consider a fake...

              Regards
