        ahwell thanks Trevor but i agree its a good looking cross, especially the reverse highlights, i'll try and work out the maker mark its a mis-stamped piece.

            Looks like a LW Mike, unknown maker. LW stamps can be really hard to make out, often just the lower part of L and W is seen.

            Have a LW with blackened core, very pretty. The blackening process can be compared to the blueing in a way, 2 different ways of coating/protecting the core instead of painting it.
