Imperial Medal Chain Question

I just purchased an Imperial 4 piece miniature medal bar. Attached are an IC 2ed, Hindenburg Cross, Bavarian MVO w/ swords [blue & white enamel on both sides] and an unknown. Stick pin at each end of the chain.


The unknown miniature is also a cross made of enamel, color white, with red outline. The back is just white enamel. The words. "VER DIENST" in gold letters is in the center. Any help in identifying this cross would be sincerly appreciated.
