EK2 with blued core - opinions please

    Another possibility might be that the unpainted Blue cores were unfinished pieces that might not have passed the inspection? This might account for the two mismatched cores! Seems strange that old CFZ would create Ek2s with same core both sides then switch to odd types? They probably ran out of stock and used what they had.
    Thanks Chris, do not see the paint on the core in post 24 but trust you completely on this.

    Your guess is as good as anyones. Sure is weird about the different core halves that were put together in no obvious logical pattern. Only combo i did not see so far is the 'Pumpkin crown' obverse with the 'normal Crown' reverse. C F Z had in total 4 different core dies, wonder why.

      This has been a great discussion about the CFZ Blue/sheet metal core, it's topics like this one that really makes collecting Imperial items interesting.

      I think we could go on with our speculation for another two pages haha but instead I vote that we combine our knowledge & collections and do like Don suggests, we start a Zimmerman thread that we can add to as new information becomes available.

      I think we can all agree on the main thing, our admiration of these beautifully designed pieces, Blue, Black or rusty lol
