    1914 EK1 with Case, WW2 Manufacture? Maker?

    Hello All,

I am assuming by the measurements and appearance that this is a WW2 manufactured EK1 - am I correct?

Can someone please provide me the maker, so that I may create a proper placard?

Of note: the frame is separating at the apex of all 4 inside corners and along the arms - I believe I see evidence of solder present (vs. Gablonzer method).

Does the case appear "correct" for this particular maker?

Measurements of the EK1 are: height 44.1mm, width 44.0mm, weight 17.4g
    Measurements of the Case are: 69 x 69 x 21mm

    Thank you,

    Eric

P.S. I don't usually touch my badges at all unless they are in desparate need of saving from further decay, but, I am very tempted to clean this one up a bit with a soft brush to remove some of the dust and grime to restore a bit of the luster - thoughts?

          Hi Eric,

Your case is fine for the cross, which is a WWII-made S&L '4' or 'L/16', and a pretty nice one. Yes, I'd clean it up a bit with a dry brush, if it were mine. Dust is not patina.
          Best regards,
          Streptile

Eric, could you tell me what the "Gablonzer method" is? First time I've heard that term. Thanks, Ammersee

Looks like S&L hardware, but the frame looks like a Deshler to me with the fat beading. The case is a WW2 EK1 case, but with a TR era cross in it, it's not out of place, although I'm not sure if they would have come together like this. I'm not well versed enough to know if these cases were private purchase items, like the LDO cases, or if these were also available private purchase. Looks like a typical awarded case.
