Cool Picture! He was a wurttemburg ski trooper wearing what was called a "Skilitewka" in fir tree green cloth. The wurttembergers added the padded shoulder wings in dark green wool (bavarian ski troopers wore the same uniform w/o the wings). The piping and collar tabs are in green. I have read that the embroidered S on green tabs would be issued to the unit after it had served on the front line for a period of time. The cap is called a "Skimutze" in the same colored material with horn buttons. The cap is piped along the crown in dark green. There are metal cockades on each side, like a spiked helmet, with a national and a state cockade. This picture was taken prior to mid-1915, when the cockades were moved to the front of the cap, above the two horn buttons.

        Regards

        Dave

Thanks for all the good info dave!
It looks to me like it has only the one cockade(probably the Württemburg cockade) on the left side.
