    JWS EK2 in Super Case.

I've been away for a week or so, but upon returning home this was waiting for me. It's a hard to find JWS marked EK2 in a unique case, of which I have never seen before. The fact that this case contained a JWS was a major bonus.

Upon first glance, the case looks like it contains a pair of eye glasses. Has anyone else seen a case like this before? Either way, this is a great set.

Despite looking like something you would keep your glasses or some pencils in, what's inside is in my opinion much more interesting, A JWS EK2. The case is nice and heavy and of good quality. In overall good condition with the only real detractor being the small stain at the top of the interior lining. Maybe this can be cleaned?

A few shots of the cross. These JWS marked EK2s may be some of the nicest out there.

A shot of the mark. The cross fits perfectly in the recess of the case.

Wow, what a nice set! An exceptional cross in a most unusual and beautiful case. I too have never seen a case of this type before. Great find. Way to go, Steve!

              Best,

              Alex

a good original - jws of the 2nd class are rare but not very rare. this type of case are sometimes sold in some auctions here in germany. as a german i would say also rare but not very rare.

try to find a JWS of the 1st class....

Very nice Steve! Would not try to remove the stain, some of the glue they used dissolves by water.

Seems to have the same core as my favo 1914 EKII, a 'blackened core' LW.

Now have to start looking for a JWS...

That's right Kay. I see it now as well. Looks like this case may have been meant for an entirely different imperial award. Good observation.

That just happens to fit an EKII perfectly?? I think the slight round imprint is not much to suddenly say the case was made for another award.

You're right. But on the other hand there's really no way to know if it was solely meant for an EKII either. It may have been an interchangeable case, as it appears it did indeed once house something that left a round imprint. Nevertheless, it's still a beautiful case and looks great with an EKII.
