What was this case for???

I got this case yesterday and I´d like to know what it was used for. Anyone has an idea? The measurements of the case are 8,5 x 8,5 x 3,5 cm / 3,4 x 3,4 x 1,4".
It´s made of cardbord.

My first thought too, but the suspension loop is not like one on an EK, it´s like a Grand Cross.
