Yes, I think the core is blued on the vaulted 930 cross. The photos do not do the patina any justice on either of these crosses, they look much better when they are in your hand, especially the 930.

Any comments on the PM stamp on the screw back? Meybauer?

Very nice crosses. I think the PM is for Paul Meybauer. Unfortunately it seems like the Meybauer has been polished up a bit by someone. The patina will return in time, and it's a terrific cross.

I guess I should bave mentioned that I bought the cross at a flea market from a young couple who had no other miitaria other than this cross. It was heavily re-painted and the silver frame was covered with thick black paint. The reverse was messed up as well. I took a little acetone, cotton balls, cutips and a soft brush to remove the paint and crap off the back and thus why the original patina is missing.

Even though it was several yeas ago, you do not want to know what I paid for this piece. I wish I could find another :-)

Hi Brad,

Two nice original examples.

No problems wit the PM stamped onto the nut like that. A silver only marked backplate, a silver only marked X-plate and fully marked nut is about the best combination you can expect for these screwback Meybauers.

I have a soft spot for the pumpkin crown, blued core, notched spoon-bill EK1s and yours has a nice high silver content too.

I have a blued core like yours stamped 930. It's one of the nicest crosses in my collection. You have two classics here.

Beautiful examples Brad. The Blue core/ Pumpkin crown Ek's are my favorite, I'm still looking for the 930.
This is the only maker I know of that added pebbling between the vertical arms of the crown, a nice detail.
