Unusual Turkish Gallipoli Star

Here is a locally picked up well worn variant shown next to a standard BB&Co example. I am thinking it was perhaps made in former Palestine as it is not like any of the Turkish made examples I have seen and also it was likely bought home by a Kiwi serving in the NZMR in Palestine and Sinai. It is the first of its type I have seen, thoughts appreciated.

It is very thin and a tad smaller than the BB&Co example.
