A Couple of Oldenburg beauties from Steven

I'm not sure what these are... veterans' pieces?

But the quality and design work are

These could be "official," they are soooooo fiiiiiiine!

Those are not Landeskriegerverband Oldenburg awards, but they are definitely from Oldenburg and very nice.

The pin added to the ribbon, however, is the 'tinny' for the Oldenburger Kriegerbund. If these awards are indeed from this separate organization it's the first time I've seen them and I must say I like'em a lot!

Both Niemann and Huesken fail to mention this org in their books.

    Steven, thanks for sharing!

These are the 1st and 2nd class awards for the Oldenburg "Industry and Commerce Order" which was a Weimar period award. The pin is one of many I have for the Franco-Prussian war vetrans association. This is the way the medals came ;I have my doubts that it actually belongs attached to this "order's" ribbon, as the recipient of the "order" was all of 19 going into WWI. I kept it there because the recipient's family gave it to me that way.
From what I have found, the commerce pieces were awarded to business and academic types who had contributed to getting Oldenburg up and running after the war.The recipient had a large repair shop for vehicles that employed more than a dozen mechanics and machinists, most of whom were his family. They had some differences of opinion regarding 3rd Reich policies of the nationalization of key industries( and repair shops) and came to Canada.
Now, refer to the OLdenburg thread regarding "one ribbon fits all" and that is all I'll say.You see if you can put the group together.(Of course this may be a 'red herring'--betcha they didn't have those in the 3rd Reich )
