    EK II, 1813 please help

Hello guys, i have purchased long time ago this EK.. I am collecting in fact primary EK II. class, but I cant find out if this one is real or not. Purchased from collection of dead very rich collector in Czech Republic with better pieces.

Ribbon seems to me like fully original, EK itself seems to be original to. Please discuss. Weight is about 15g-16g, dimensions 44mm x 44mm

I do not know how to upload photos here, so there is a link. Please help me.. Want to know if its real or fake. Thanks for all.

Sorry, this is a ground-down Imperial EK from what I can tell. By your dimensions it sounds closer to TR, but the core type is Imperial.

Fake , but would display nicely in a case

Yes, looks like a grind down to me. Before the grinddown value 70 dollars, now 5 dollars for a filler, and an unconvincing filler at that.

Are you sure guys ? How come that ribbon seems so old ?
So there is no % of chance to be original ?

        THanks Josef

I agree, there is no way this is a period piece, or even a later issue, it bears no resemblance to those.

              I agree. It's a 1914 that's been apart, smoothed and resoldered.
              Sorry.

Sorry for you Josef and too bad about a nice 1914 EKII. It got a generic core that can be found in frames from different makers. Bet we can pin a maker to the frames as well if we tried, is the ring marked? Can not say anything about the ribbon without better pics. If it's real the ribbon itself would be worth a bit.

I had not experience with those crosses when I was purchasing this piece. I am collecting at most EK II class ww2. I am fool then.

I wouldn't say that. Every single one of us has been burned, some for tens of thousands of dollars. I myself posted four consecutive fakes in a row when I first joined this forum. Just keep reading and learning, and apportion the blame to the unscrupulous seller rather than yourself for the first mistake.
