I have to say I am really unsure about this one. I have seen one like
it posted before but I can not find the thread.

I like the frame. The high jump ring, open on one side looks like what
I would want to see on an early cross BUT that core Ugly crown
with way too soft details looks really suspect. This could be a jubilee
      cross.

If you are looking for your first 1870, then my advice would be
to find one of the more accepted variations.

----lets see what others have to say.

Funny Greg, I had the same reaction. Liked everything except that nasty crown. It's like "let's fix the muffin". And it's got to be about the core as well as the frame. I'm on the fence, but I wouldn't pay money for it myself.

I could probably dig up a Gnad Austria parabadge in a cigar box to trade though...

Definately soft details on the core. Crown lacks the quality and appearance of the 1870s issue crosses. Frame could be WW1 era.

At the very best, a Jubilee cross. My gut feeling is that it's not even that. Good Type As can be found quite readily if you're willing to spend a little money, and a less expensive Type A may be found with a little persistence on auction sites. Recently a very nice one sold on eBay.de for about €300, which is a good €100 below dealer asking-prices.

Chiming in late, my first response was good frame, but very soft core details, in particular the dates.
