    Rick Lundström

Has anyone ever stopped and considered how Rick can, seemly pull complete military careers and personnel files from literally nowhere? In a matter of minutes?<O</O

Someone posts a ribbon bar, photo or a medal bar and in no time at all Rick has unravelled the mysteries and put a name to the item.<O</O
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

<o> Has anyone considered the fact that it is really Rick's cats doing all the hard work?</o>

I'm quite sure that he can tell what type of sandwiches the recipient of an award preferred or was carrying at the time of the award ceremony.

      And yet!

All is not Sunshine And Light in Ricky's World!

For all the occasional Spectacular Success,

I find a pile accumulating of my own items that absolutely defy such identification:

      SHOULD be "finadable"... but AREN'T!!!!!

There is a very simple, yet very frightening answer for how he does this....

            HE'S A WITCH !

            I know, trust me!

He turned me into a newt once (I got better).

And look at his long, pointed nose! Well, alright, we put the nose on him, but he IS a witch!

Need proof? Let's just get a big set of scales and a duck!

You call the christall ball "lyterally nowhere"???

And Rick, for the pieces that you can't see the answers - try some glass-cleaning chemical on the ball, it must work!

It's not as hard to teach the cats to read old script as it is to get them to respond in a timely fashion.

                            <marquee behavior=alternate> Happy Feet! Nah-nahnah Happy Feet! </marquee>

OK, this one was only SORT of on my Unhappy List: I was fairly certain of the ID, but had no way of knowing if there was anyone else who got the last ribbon-- the Austro-Hungarian Marianerkreuz for noble volunteers in aid of the High & German Order's hospitals... and now, thanks to Glenn and his unerring eye for Arcane Sources I can CONFIRM that as of 1916, although NOT showing the Hessian Bravery Medal or Austro-Hungarian MMC3wWD (yet) there was no other Marian Cross owner possible EXCEPT

Hans Ritter und Edler Ballon von Thiereck auf Rebenfels und Wranyck

                            born 1873.

He was a career Bavarian cavalry officer (the story I got from this seller was that it had been stripped (apparently because the flexing had frayed the Hessian ribbon ) off a Ulanka-- in this case NOT as horrible as Steven's "Tale Of Ribbon Bar Evil" thread) and, miracle of miracle, that was actually accurate:

Von Thiereck (for huff puff huff) short was on the staff of the 1st Light Horse Regiment when the war started

                            SekLt 26.8.94
                            Oberlt 28.10.02
                            Rittmeister 28.10.08
                            Major 30.11.14
                            Oberstleutnant aD (alive 1926)

He ALSO held the Prussian Johanniter Order... so I guess he did NOT have much "spare time" before the war!

His Bavarian MMO4X was awarded 11.9.14, and his Crown to that grade on 25.5.18, dating this ribbon bar 1916-18.

When "Non Bavarian Awards To Bavarians" is published by Autengruber, will be able to narrow that down... and hope to find the Hessian BM before the cessation of publishing these awards in the Personal-Nachrichten in 1917.

FIRST Nagging Unsolved Mystery of 2004-- SOLVED! Five extra minutes of sleep every night from now on!

Your cats emailed mine and they think it should be sardines or lobster all around to celebrate their success .I still dream of the day I can say that about my Mecklenburg group, but my cat's 17 and has forgotten how to read German so not much help there. His mentor just sleeps and has taught mine well.Time for a herd of cats I guess.
