    Show your Jubilee 1870 EK2s

I have this 1870-series EK2 which is commonly called a Jubilee-era cross, made in the 1890s. I've seen a few of them -- they all have the same cores, the same soft finish, the same frame flaws, and the same distinctive double-loop ribbon setup.

Here's one that was posted recently by WAF member Justin:

Here's one that was sold about 2 months ago by a well-known dealer. The photo at the lower left shows a typical long, thin flaw to the 8 o'clock beading arm that is also found on the others.

And finally one sold by Detlev Niemann in last week's update and described as as "private purchased cross around 1900":

Does anyone else have one of these to show us? Or another 1870 EK2 that was certainly made for the jubilee? I'm curious about genuine examples from the 1895 celebration.
    Best regards,
    Streptile

I have a couple different ones. The first one is of typical poor quality,
painted core like what I would expect from a late ww1 cross.

The 2nd one is a "wideframe" cross. That is, it's almost as large as a
TR era cross. There have only been maybe a half dozen of these posted
over the last few years. They have fairly good detail. This was examined by Niemann and he said these are made post 1900.

Here is a shot showing the size comparison to a standard cross.

Oh very nice, Greg. I love those "wide frames".. Tiger1's got a great one on a non-com ribbon, which I hope he won't mind me showing here.

          Photos are Tiger1's

This same core can also be found in EK1s, one of which I have seen.

Oh, and one more recently sold on eMedals:

This one seems to have pretty nice detail for the type.

This exact core may also be found in KO marked frames. Do you think that these could be legitimate pieces made by KO during WWI?

I thought I had copies of all of Tony's pictures--I guess he's held a few back.

I spent 2 years trying to research my wide frame

I don't think so, I just grabbed this one off the forum:

                              "and it's little brother"

A prinzen 1870 with oaks. Now that's something you don't see
                              everyday.
