    WW1 Austrian Buckle

Here is a pretty nice buckle, ww1 Austrian and a multi constructed piece. Did any particular unit wear this buckle or did all Austrian units have the same buckle?

These muti-piece buckles are private purchase items and could have been had by anyone who could afford them. There were very few Austro-Hungarian buckles that were for specific units. The Honved had its own buckle with the Hungarian coat-of-arms, there was a Bosnian buckle, a buckle for Ukranian volunteers and supposedly a white metal (aluminum I think) buckle for mountain troops, though I have never seen one.

Most of these buckles have been reproduced (and quite nicely), so one has to be careful.

Thanks Chip, this came in a large grouping that I got from the vets family, an overview of everything you can find in the community forum. I didn't know if one unit wore this or not. Thanks for the info!
