List of Known EK 1 Maker's marks

As I am desperately trying to improve my meager EK1 holdings, I made a list of all the EK1 manufacturer's marks that I could find. I know that JensF has put considerable work into his exhaustive EK2 list, (great job) but I wanted to narrow it down to <u>markings</u> found on EK1. I thought others may find it useful as well, so here it is. If I missed any, or made any errors, please let me know, I will update it chop chop. And, if you think this is useful, make the link a favorite. Link is below. Thanx, Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com/stuff/1914_EK1_makers.htm

    Tony,
    Great job
I've already printed it out and added to my files.

    Thanks,
    Greg

        Nice!

Just to help a bit-- The D.R.G.M. patent number of 653146 was for this specific type of screwback assembly and was held by the firm of Paul Meybauer. Their adress was Junkerstr. 19, Berlin.

          Hi Eric,

Are all D.R.G.M. screwbacks made by Meybauer? Are there any EKs out there
with the D.R.G.M. patent number and the Meybauer logo?

          Thanks,
          Greg

            Hi Greg,

There are several types of DRGM marked screwback assemblies- I am referring the the one with the cross shaped backing plate and small (looped) retaining disc. This particular system was also used on wound badges and Freikorps awards.

Yes, there are awards that have the Meybauer logo and numbers.

OK, thanks for the correction Joerg, I added "SILBER" to the silver content. Thank you Eric, I changed D.R.G.M. 653146 to reflect the manufacturer of Meybauer. Is that correct? Here is the link again, you may have to "refresh" your browser to see the change. Thanx, Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com/stuff/1914_EK1_makers.htm

                  Looks good!

Friedrich Sedlatzek, Berlin was another maker. Silver content went up to .950, and you may wish consider adding the 'box', or 'square' stamp to the symbols section along with a big question mark. As far as I know, no one has yet figured out who made these items.

OK, but I am trying to foucs on maker marks, not just makers, so there are EK1 that are stamped "Friedrich Sedlatzek"? Spelled out in full? T

                      Tony-

I have an EK1 with a VERY small mark that appears to be "Wo". I have never been able to figure out what it is. Here's a picture I posted on the forum a while back- the mark through a loupe.

A good list, mate. It's in my favourites! That's something i haven't seen before, Brian... Are you sure that the second letter is an "o"? There seems to be some sort of fine line going through the center of it..

Hi, thanks for the list, very useful. I was always led to believe that K.A.G was Klein and Quenzer, anyone confirm this?

Brian, I can add that immediately, but to echo Blitz, could that be an "we" mark? T

                              Hi Tony,

Yes, they marked the EK1s with the full name and address of the Sedlatzek enterprise on the reverse of the crosses.
