Wow! Great piece... It's so mint that almost hurts my eyes. It must have been very carefully stored in its (rare) case all these years. You can notice the skills of the engraver/maker of this cross... the red cross in the middle is obviously painted by hand. Great details. Thanks for showing us!

ABSOLUTELY GREAT DOCUMENT I do not collect documents but to have the award document for such a rare cross is GREAT.

Mine is not maker marked. Mr. Previtera says in " The Iron Time " that some of the crosses are marked with a "C" or "O". The maker is still unknown.

BTW-Can you make out the name of the recipient? I would be cool to know who she was and what she did to earn this award.

I have two crosses. One (the above) is Z - marked in the ring (I think "Zehn"), the other Cross is W - marked at the upper crossarm (I think "Wagner").

I have seach in the HADIS (Hessian Documentcenter) for Amalie Glaser, born Dambmann from Wiesbaden, but I fonud nothing.

It's a beauty. Join the club! Mine has a leather case which is a bit different than yours. If you paid less than $1,800, you got a bargian. PS--There's one that just came up on eBay. Photos aren't too good, though.

My cross is not maker marked.

Looking at these beautiful little gems I noticed that there two distinct differences in the engraving accents on the intertwined WA. The cased one that Eagle shows, in his marvelous closeups, has double accent lines and other slight engraving differences while the others show only single line accents.

For what it's worth.
