            Sarge,

Though this Schnappsflasche is not his, my wife's grandfather did serve in this regiment circa 1903-1905. I collect anything from this Ostfriesische regiment.

The best and most interesting things in a collection are things, that came from a family member. Or things that have a relation to the family history like your bottle!

                Walking stick for Braunschweiger Reservisten

I got this item in a huge parcel today.

Now I'm prepared, when I'm older and need a walking stick!

Yes! I have already seen a lot of walking sticks for Imperial Reservisten, but this is the first one with a skull.

Here is an interesting photo of a Garde Reservisten (cavalry). He had not the normal Reservisten walking stick, but a similar whip. I guess the orders are for Reservisten too.

The stein in post number 43 is the larger one litre model as opposed to the usual half litre example shown in post 42.

One litre regimental steins are hard to find today because no where near the same numbers were made as the half litre and they cost a lot more to buy at the time. Keep in mind that a half litre stein cost a month pay for a private.

This Hussar looks to have real money and he may be a one year volunteer who has certainly bought enough items to get his point across that he has done his service for King and Fatherland.

One litre steins were often a favourite choice of the one year volunteer.

                              Thanks for posting,

                              Chris
