I have one exactly like it. Since the Hindenburg Cross was intro'd in 1934, it is true that many producers of WWII medals and badges also produced these. Overhoff u. Cie., Steinhauer u. Lueck, Paul Meybauer, Chr. Lauer, JMME, Osang, Glaser u. Soehne, Deschler u. Soehne, Carl Po(e)llath, and C.E. Junker are a few other examples of producers of Hindenburg Crosses who also produced many other items just prior to and during WWII.

While I can't read what's behind the pin, that number is most likely a DRGM number, i.e., a patent number for that type of sewn on pin construction.

I'm afraid that is just a DRGM serial number, similar to the ones on the back of DRL Sports badges. To bad you couldn't trace this one.

Here's my Assmann marked button hole device.

In addition to the 1914/18 & Ek2 it also has a Saxon Friedrich August medal ribbon.
