Finally pulled those nasty dirty medals off the medal bar, cleaned them with a little soap and water and look what happened?

Sal, NEVER clean medals! Some people use 'museum' restoration techniques. When it results in original bluing or gilting or blackening or any deterioration of the original item it is NOT restoration.

Nothing really happend to those medals, it was a joke and a play on people who clean and scrub items. Some items need it if they are aluminum and oxidizing or zinc and needing the zink rot stopped.

Good old medals with patina need only be admired.

Soiled ribbons need only be admired and thoughts of rain and foul weather that may have caused it do not need to be reversed.
