    High End Medals???

I thought I would point these two medals out to the forum. I don't have a clue if they are good or bad, but I plan on archiving the photos for future reference. Feel free to tag on a comment. The first is a cross from Baden:

and the second is cross from Brunswick:

    regards

I was watching both of those but now that you've alerted the whole world to them I guess I won't bother.
    Thanks

I always hate this too. Please wait until the auctions are over unless you're asking about the authenticity of an item and then...and you'll learn the hard way...don't point directly to the auction, but just post some pictures. After you lose a bunch of items because the whole world is now looking at the piece or the price has skyrocketed out of this world, you'll understand the feelings.

        I know you meant well.

          While we're on the topic...

This one recently ended and I have to ask the Imperial gurus on flight badges. The piece appears to be marked with a Meybauer mark and the engraving certainly looks believable, but the overall quality looks poor IMO and the eagle does not look correct, nor does the center "mountains/rocks" or whatever they are supposed to be??.

Also, the weep hole is filled and I would have expected a 900 mark above the catch where the "blob" appears.

The seller said he could not confirm the originality of the piece but claimed he didn't know. I did not bid on it but someone got it for around $200-$300.

If not original, someone got a nice space filler!

Everyone, I apologize. I will refrain from doing this again.

I wonder why those should skyrock...

While Henry the Lion looks okay, the Karl Friedrich does not even look close to something real. It has to be the 2nd cheapest fake, only those by Göde are worse. I hope anyone hear noticed this before...

I never heard about a Beobachter Station Helgoland. There was a See-Flug-Station in Helgoland.

                      1) I don't like the badge -looks like an army flieger badge on the front (wreath, knot, crown).

                      2) I don't the engraving -artificially buffed down, back plate has too thick of borders, patina is not-authentic looking.

I agree that its not the best policy to post interesting auctions, for obvious reasons ,,, But I can hardly believe that it would have much effect on the auction, as anyone reading here is doubtlessly well aware of ebay, and probably browses the German military sections daily.

That is funny Don! I wish the "whole world" was here it check out E-stand! I would have to think a heck of a lot more people saw them via Ebay than this forum. It seems that lately that the forum has been down more that online. Heck if you want them, Snipe the highest you'll pay for the medals and see what happens.. Oh well my friend-good hunting! Mike

Unfortunately some members are too lazy to do thier own hunting. I've seen it before here and on other forums. Posting an auction link only drives up the price for your fellow collector.

That has been my observation as well Don and in some cases, they jack the bid prices up and never follow through on actually paying if they win. I have been getting a lot of second chance offers lately on various items.

Thanks to those commenting on the Flieger badge; glad I didn't bid. I looked through several sources and just couldn't find one like it, so...that told me to let it pass.
                              Cheers!
