"Bound" Swords Device on Ehrenkreuz Ribbon?

Was this an error on the part of the person that built the bar, or was this the trademark of some odd manufacturer? (...or something else entirely?)

think, that the prongs are missing - or it lost them and so they used a needle and a string to attached them.

Devices struck with "bound" swords are a variant made to exactly duplicate the crossed swords on top of Bavarian Military Merit Orders and Crosses.

It was not a common style, and almost all the time--even on those awards-- standard crossed swords will be found.

Check out the 500% swords devices in The Ribbon Bar Article.

It looks to me, though your scan is small, from the >--< sword hilts that you have such a "Bavarian" device, so tiny that someone did not notice they were using it on a Hindenburg Cross!

Taking a look at your picture, it certainly appears that we're looking at more or less the same device. The one on my ribbon has longer blades, but the hilt and "binding" design is very close.
