    Star of Brabant

Anyone have any of these to post? After reading Adreas Schulze Ising's page I'm curious about it.

Only in my dreams.I've read his write-up and looked the photos more times than I care to admit. It's about as close as I've ever gotten to one.

here is the pic from an old huesken cataloge.
        1.200 - 650 euro
        480 mark - 250 euro
nowadays - not too much, i think - but the prices are as old as the cataloge.
and sorry for the poor quality

          Beware...

... I have seen a number of the officers' crosses at some dubious auction houses, and I have seen a surprisingly high number of the medals of this order (which are simple silver items that could be easily cast). I assumed that most, if not all of them, were reproductions.

All classes of this order are VERY rare - in many cases awarded only one or two times. There may have been more made than awarded, but if you hope to buy one be aware that you may have a long wait, and a lot of homework to do to ensure that you get a real one.

Thanks for sharing the photos and info. It's a funny award in that it is ugly ,but very appealing from a design point of view.

I don't know that I would call it "ugly", but sort of Art Deco. It looks more like a 1930's automotive badge than a medal.

Here is a breakdown of numbers awarded, according to Jorg Nimmergut's "Deutsche Orden und Ehernzeichen", Vol 1:

              Grand Cross: 1
              Grand Commander with Turquoise: 1
              Grand Commander 1st Class: unknown
Grand Commander 2nd Class with Crown: 1
              Grand Commander 2nd Class: 1
Commander 1st Class with Crown: unknown
              Commander 1st Class: 1
Commander 2nd Class with Crown: 2
              Commander 2nd Class: 3
Honor Cross 1st Class with Crown: none
              Honor Cross 1st Class: none
Honor Cross 2nd Class with Crown: none
              Honor Cross 2nd Class: 5
Knight 1st Class with Crown: 4
              Knight 1st Class: 13
Knight 2nd Class: with Crown: 7
              Knight 2nd Class: 2
Silver Cross 1st Class with Crown: 4
              Silver Cross 1st Class: none
Silver Cross 2nd Class with Crown: 6
              Silver Cross 2nd Class: 5
              Silver Medal: unknown

Also, the “Women’s Order” has the following classes and award numbers:
              Honor Cross: 3
              Honor Cross with Brilliants: 1
              1st Class: 2
              2nd Class: 2
              Silver Cross: 1
              Silver Medal: 2

With the largest known award number in any class only 13 awards, this has to be one of the hardest Imperial German orders to obtain!

just a few classes? It's too bad the order never had a chance to develop and become a little better known.I think it is the colour that does not appeal-either lighter or darker or possibly black or navy would have improved the esthetics.
