There are a number of problems with this listing:

First of all, the item in his first photo is not the same item pictured in the remaining photos.

Secondly that first photo that he shows was lifted from a Butterfields auction catalog in 2002 - I know because I helped to catalog it and was humiliated when it turned out to be a fake. I recognize the photo, was there when it was shot, and I still have that red-orange fabric we used as a background.

Third, the item in the remaining photos is not only NOT a Wagner PLM, but is in fact a cheap modern copy that turns up frequently on Ebay and all over the place.

But what's most disturbing about this listing is that the seller has 488 feedback points - 100% positive! So much for Ebay's feedback system.

BTW - what is "Sanke Merite" supposed to mean? He uses it in the description of every item he sells.

        Hi Tim,

these are only search words: WW1 WWI GERMAN SANKE MERITE MEDAL

Every one who is looking for "merite" decorations (Pour le Merite) and/or "Sanke" postcards, must find his offer, his article.

        "Postkartenvertrieb W. Sanke in Berlin"

        For example:

        http://www.flieger-album.de/fotoalbe...rten/index.php

        and

        http://www.frontflieger.de/3sanke00.html

And for the search words sanke and merite:

        Regards
        Uwe

Agree with Tim, Don and Uwe. This is a fake or at best an S&L post '45 blank, which I highly doubt. I say that because the 'UR' is connected in 'Pour', a noted trait in S&Ls. But the materials here look poor. I've seen other examples of this very blank. Would make for interesting material though to show how fakes are made. Steve
