    A Real 1813 EKI???

    Hello!
I was just looking through some of my EK photos on my computer that I keep for reference, and I saw this. I saved this photo off Ebay a few years back. Is this photo worth keeping or is it a fake?
    Thanks a lot!

It matches a private purchase one in The Iron Time. I'm a little worried about the left corner of the lower arm, though. It looks like a joint, which doesn't make sense. I wouldn't mortgage the farm for it, but I'd hold onto the scan.

This looks like one I purchased from Germany 3 years ago. Mine is also a vaulted piece, has a beautiful semi-polished gun metal blued (the old salt blueing, not painted) magnetic core, and is mounted on an oak and silver round plaque. I'll get a photo up tonight. I am guessing these are mid-to late 1800's private purchase pieces, too.

        Tyler,

Save the scan for your refrence library.

IMO the hinge, pin and catch look to be from the 1914 era. The rust blued center also dates from that era. The blue would be the same process as used on Imperial era Luger pistols. There is a specific name for this typeof rust blueing but at the moment it slips my mind. I do know that it begins with a Z.

        Just some thoughts,
