Hello Kay,

you know there are people interested in those decorations, but the reconance in this area is very poor and much more focused on iron crosses, Pour le Merites, Pilots Badges ............ all concerning with WW1.
By the way - the shown decorations are not yours i think, i have seen all three on sites from dealers, so be carefull with abuse of those pics, some of the dealers become very angry if you use their pics !

A lot of people are collecting them, because they are so beautiful and some so rare.
Here one from a group of a whole family. A KO3 awarded in 1885 to the 1st prayer of the Berlin St-Georg-Church, a community with about 60.000 members to that time. 1st prayer Ferdinand Dahms, close friend of Wilhelm I. was awarded this (and i mean this ) KO3 for the 50years jubilee that he became a prayer of the prussian protestantic church.
The group of his whole family, including his father who got the silver merit medal for 1814, is a real mirror of the prussian history.

An other interesting piece of prussian history ...
When Wilhelm I. and the prussian troops came back after the campaign against Austria in 1866 to Berlin they were welcomed by thousands of people. When they passed the Brandenburg-Gate they were welcomed by 55 maiden from Berlin with a poem on the victory and all the men received laurel leaves from these maiden..............
The badge shown below was awarded to the 55 maiden with a personal, handwritten letter from Queen Augusta and shows the date of the parade in Berlin, September 20th 1866.
The eagle is driven into a sheet of silver, hollow constructed, the crown casted from silver and fixed with two screws on a round silver base with a horizontal pin. The badge looks very 2-dimensional in this picture, but in real it is amazing 3-dimensional.
I know three "survivals" of the 55 badges on the world...... this is mine

Markus, those are great pieces, I especially like your RAO with smooth arms and swords, not a common item by any means. My great grandfather also got the PKO3 from the Kaiserin for his services as an Imperial Architect. Fortunately I have this item in my collection. Kay, there are some very serious Imperial collectors on this forum, hopefully some of them will chime in.

Markus, That is a great medal. Truely a "rare bird".

I have to admit that my main collecting interest is the Iron Cross.
1813-1918. But I also have a liking for some of the other Imperial
awards. Most that I find that are priced out of my range so I get
the miniature version of them.

You raise a point which I have noticed at times as well. At the same time, in all fairness, I also notice that you have been a member of the forum for a relatively short (nine months) time. I can assure you that over the years many interesting threads on many topics, some of which you suggested, have appeared.

I think that the key is for someone to initiate a topic, after which others add to the thread. Pleasant surprises often result. Look at some of the subsequent posts in this thread alone. Keep in mind that the world of Imperial German orders and decorations is vast; and, as such, offers many avenues of specialization.

Many collectors specialize in certain states, such as Reuss.
