Passport is for his individual travel to the US (no wife or kids). His military ID puts him in Reserve Infantry Regiment 248. Born in Haigerloch, Hohenzollern 3 Feb 1897. He was a Private. Inducted 18 July, 1916. Does he have any campaigns listed? He shows no awards or wounds. He transfered to the Wuertemburg Mountain Regiment Sep 1917.

Actually, he was in the Wurtemburg Mountain troops (2nd Company) and saw quite a bit of action. He got the EK2 and the Wurtmbrg silver bravery medal, both in September 1918 so he was busy that Fall.
He had no charges and conduct was good.
His father had died before he was inducted in 1916.
I believe Rommel was his Regimental commander.

I posted before all the pics were up. I wonder why they didn't put his awards on the proper page?

Thanks very much for the analysis. Here are two loose pages in the back. Not sure what they are or mean but here they are.

The loose pages are battle/campaign listings.

So Don, being a non-collector of paper, would this set be worth anything to someone?

I would much prefer adding something related to the Third Reich period to my collection than this group. Would you give me an idea as to what a fair value might be were I to seek a buyer or someone to trade something for?

                            Thanx, Rick

                              Hello Phoenixpwb:

I never thought of myself as a "paper guy" but I guess I am. I've usually considered myself a "document group collector" Although the documents I collect is flieger and kolonial.

This would be of interest to someone collecting militarpasses to either; Wurttemberg units,
                              Mountain units,
guys that have listed awards or,
guys who have listings to different and notable battle fronts.

I think it's interesting that he was in Macedonia, although I wonder why since he only stayed there a week?

The value is subjective. Values can span from $20 to $125. In this case, without other photos, documents or other militaria that is directly attributable to the owner, the value will be on the lower end of this range. Others may disagree. As a "document group collector" I always like to see groups sold and remain intact. It always increases the value of the group to others.

                              Hope this is (somewhat) helpful.
