KPM Plate - EK Motif - Any Thoughts?

    Hi Everybody,

Me again. Sorry, but this is in the same sale as the Pickelhaube. I just wondered if anyone knows the significance of this plate - it has an Imperial Iron Cross motif at centre.

    Any info greatly appreicated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Toby.

Is this the size that's missing the matching coffee cup which I've seen go for about 150 with plate and cup?

          HI Brian,

No, this one is larger - desert size.

          Cheers,
          Toby.

It is probably the one that goes WITH the cup/saucer set. Could be a coffee pot and other pieces also. These were obviously aimed at vets. These aren't 'award' dishes or anything but still very collectable.

That's right--there were whole dessert and dinner sets of these patriotic dishes made. This one is made by KPM, which was the Royal Porcelain Manufacture, so it's a good quality maker.

                EK plate from KPM

                Hello,

this plate is a single patriotic plate from the Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur (Royal Porcelain Manufacturer) in Berlin. The plate is made in the war time 1914 - 1918. You can see this due to the EK beside the normal KPM mark.

KPM mostly manufactured just single plates or cup/saucer during the war. You can see another nice cup with saucer out of my collection here

                      Hi Walter,

i am not directly from Dortmund, but 25 km away. But that is near enough for a meeting. I will contact you as soon as possible, as i have a lot of work lately and not much spare time. But that will change soon, i hope, and we can meet for a beer and a look on our collections. I look forward to that.

                      all the best,
                      Gerd
