    Nice EK2 Award Document

Here is one I'm posting for Wintershaft with particularly pleasing graphic design. Kaiser Wilhelm's portrait up the top is a very nice and unusual touch!

It was awarded "for brave conduct in the face of the enemy" on 28 June 1917 to Musketier Albert Wilm of Reserve Infantry Regiment 79, 38th Landwehr Division. This is an actual Divisional level award, presented by the Divisional Commander, Generalleutnant zD Karl Freiherr von Willisen (b. Quedlinburg 20.1.1858, alive 1926).

Baron Willisen retired in 1913 as Commandant of Strassburg, having previously commanded the 1st Guard Regiment of Foot, and been a Flügeladjutant of the Kaiser.

Before the war he held the Prussian Red Eagle Order 2nd Class with Oakleaves, Prussian Crown Order 2nd Class, Red eagle Order 3rd Class with Crown and Bow, XXV Years Service Cross, 1897 Centenary Medal, Saxe-Altenburg Ernst Medal, Italian Maurice and Lazarus-Officer, and Rumanian Star Order-Knight; also Principality Hohenzollern Honor Cross 2a, Baden Zähringen Lion 2nd, Saxe-Weimar White Falcon 2nd, Saxe Ernestine House Order 2nd, and Rumanian Crown- Commander (7 neck badges!); as well as Bavarian Military Merit Order-Officer and Spansh Military Merit Order 2nd for pinbacks.

During the war he received Swords to his REO2wOLs on 9.1.17, and Star with Oakleaves and Swords to his REO on 20.7.18.

His son, I believe, Major iG Ludwig Freiherr von Willisen, was a recipient of both the Pour le Merite and Bavarian Military Max Joseph Order.
