    Bavarian Pilot's Badge

I've had this in my collection for a number of years. It was purchased at an estate sale in a recent frame along with a vaulted first class iron cross, second class cross, wound badge, and other medals. The estate was on behalf of a family with a German surname (long forgotten) and I always thought it was a shame that if indeed it was a family piece, it ended up unwanted at a Richardson, Texas estate sale. It has beautifully tarnished over the years. It is marked 800 on the pin. Sorry, but my pictures are a bit soft.

      Hi Dave,

That looks to me like a very nice clique example with cut-out crown. A fine addition to any collection!

Beautiful piece Dave. A shame the provenance of this group has been lost. Steve

I like these issue pieces better than the deluxe models with the rayed backs.

Hi,can you post clearer pictures of this badge, back and front? I only say this because the details seem a little 'soft'. I have an observer example of this type in 935 silver. I ' had ' a pilot example too a few years back but I am sure it was an electro-formed copy , right pin ,right catch etc,etc... but it was just wrong in my opinion, so it was returned to the dealer. Now I am not saying yours is the same but comparing it to three reference pictures of others of the same it seems softer in detail and slightly different in certain features. Ferg1.

Given my photography skills and camera this is the best I can do I'm afraid.
