This is another item I found at the Reichertshofen show yesterday.

It isn't anything special, but nice, cheap and absolutely zinc-free.

Does anyone know how many of the Sachsen-Meiningen medals for merit in war were bestowed?

In total, nice bronze ones like yours and icky zinky ones:

23,712 on this combatant ribbon, and
326 on noncombatant ribbon

Non-Combattant!

Non-Ciombattant ribbon?! Can anyone post an example of this cross in a group, on the NC ribbon?
The bar is great, it is very hard to find these awards in the early war strikes in bronze. I have a 2-Place bar, EK2 & Sachs-Mein. but mine is a late war zinc medal. Still looking for a bronze one myself!

Is the ribbon shown for the Sachsen-Meiningen cross also the non-com version?

The ribbons were the same for the Cross and Medal.

I have a Medal which for some reason was mounted on the ribbon of the Saxe-Weimar AEZ. It is zinc, but harldy icky. The pictures don't do it justice but it is the cleanest zinc with fine details and the richest patina I've ever seen:


This example, from a cop in Meiningen, is also an un-icky zinc (the EK's a bit dirty though):


This Cross appears to be bronze, but I think it might be zinc "bronziert":
