    Fliegerlt. Mann

    I just got these WWI photos of Fliegerlt. Mann . It would be nice if someone could ID his plane for me or any info on him , and what the big 5 on the plane stood for ?? Posted by Bernd .

      Looks like he has the traditional Deathhead and Crossbones on his visor cap and he carries a pistol and binoculars , His pants seem to have a color stripe also .
      In this photo he is working a mounted machine gun , looks like a gun with a top mounted drum mag.

                ..A Observation baloon shot down and observer coming down in his parachute. Plane way up on the right hand side !

                  This seems to be a Lt., may be friend of Fliegerlt. Mann , that came to visit and his car and driver .However the man who might be the driver does not have the ' Kraftfahrer ' collar tabs , but per his visor cap , he is an NCO!

                      The Totenkopf looks to me like the Brunswick style and not the Prussian one. I checked my 1914 Rangliste and found a lot of Lt Manns, but none in any of the Brunswick regiments. He must have come along later.
