    Unusual Saxon Ribbon Bar

Okay, here we have the relatively scarce Saxon Kriegs-Verdienst Kreuz, second place on the ribbon bar. Note the Saxon Long Service award ribbon as well. This poor sap was awarded the Prussian EK2, but no real bravery award from Saxony! The KVK was instituted in 1916, so few were awarded. It could only be awarded if no other Saxon WW1 decoration had been awarded. If subsequent to award of the Kreuz, another award was earned, the KVK had to be returned. How bizarre!<br>

But much more bizarr is, that this cross was officially an ORDER, not only a decoration or medal. So if anybody won later a saxon DECORATION he had to return the ORDER!!!

    Greetings
