    Iron Cross / Ribbon

This is my FIRST Imperial piece. I'm sure it's authentic, but what about the ribbon ??

Your ribbon is likely new. One way to tell if ribbon is old is to look at the edges. Authentic old ribbon has "loops" showing alng the edge while most new replacement ribbon has fine stitching along the edge which hides the loops.
Here's a pic of a ribbon from an Honor Legion medal. You can clearly see the "loops" showing along the edges. Using the loops to tell if a piece is good doesn't work all the time as there are old ribbons that don't have the loops. Some of the blue long service ribbons are made the same as new replacement ribbons with stitching along the edge. Ammersee

As Ammersee already pointed out wrong weave for a WWI period ribbon - here is an original for comparison.

Did you blacklight it? Do the white stripes glow?
