    Ek2 1870

    Dear All,

I'm looking to acquire such a piece having studied The Iron Time and various pictures available in WAF, I cannot seem to find any for sale on any dealers site, therfore I can't work out a base line in terms of cost for poor / average / good / excellent conditions, so that when I do see one I can assess whether it is a fair price. I understand that the printzen size will always be more expensive and how much does the 1914 bar or the 25 anniversary oakleaves bump the cost ?

If anyone could help I'd be very greatful.

    Regards,

    Gareth

Forget the 1914 bar - sadly, you'll be paying an extra $500 for something with next to no credibility any more. I would advocate likewise with the prinzens... unless you know what to avoid (I have been involved in a few threads on both the 1914 bars and suspect Prinzens over the years if you do a search).

A good 1870 ek2 with oaks? - around the US$600-800 mark. Der Rittmeister (usually one to be avoided for Franco-Prussian EK's in my opinion) actually has a nice Godet type EK2 among the many MANY fakes in both classes he is also offering.

    Good luck.

I would wait and watch these here forums.

I bought a very nice piece off a member on this site and at a fair price too! Also the 1870 2kl I bought will be appearing in G. Williamsons new book (which I cant wait for!!!!! ) which was a nice bonus.
