    Ribbon Device

Does anyone have any idea what the device on in the EKII ribbon on the ribbon bar in this picture? I have posted the full picture and a cropping of the ribbon bar.

Looks like a mini Iron Cross device, which was quite popular on Saxon ribbon bars. Purely a fashion statement, and didn't indicate anything beyond the normal award.

That's what I thought at first but the more I look at it the more it looks like oak leaves. What is the date on the photo?

1915, I believe. The bar in the photo corresponds to the medal bar that pzrwest posted in another forum, which points to this ribbon bar being:

        EK
        Sachsen-Altenburg Bravery medal
        Long Service

The bar posted there was a later bar with the Hindenburg Cross, a 12 year DA, and the Hungarian commemorative added on.

Thanks. Perhaps he should post the bar here too.

Here are the pics of his medal bars as requested. They are as I received them from his son Edgar(ww2 vet).

            And here's a pic of Willy's minatures

Also posting Willy's shoulderstraps, sword knot, and cockades from his cap

I can't believe that mini is anything but an EK. It would be cool if it was some kind of wreath but I've never seen anything like it (other than on an 1870 EK)

Unfortuneatle I don't have the ribbon bar it has been lost over time. Edgar did say the famliy home did suffer some bomb damage during the second world war. Also the minatures are missing the EKII minature. Ed had removed it and had it made into a necklace for his son(Volker) but it was stolen.
