    Hi Chris,

I'm not 100% sure it's possible, is it? The core is common and the frames look identical. But if I had to guess I would guess N or Z, a very common maker who used this core a lot.
    Best regards,

True, not possible, so what differentiates a JWS from any other cross? ( I know, the stamp lol )

It is true also that certain makers share certain characteristics on their frames and cores, more so for EK1s but, what I'm getting at is.. could JWS mean something other than what we think it means?

These two crosses share many similarities, almost or fully identical but with two different makers or the same maker? Sharing of parts is highly possible as well.

I humbly request your best thinking on this

      Chris

I think the FW cross looks a lot like the JWS. Here's 4 pics of one. Gary

One of these is a JWS, can you tell which one? Can you tell what the maker of the other one is? The Wednesday challenge

Here we have another close match from Gary.

The cross on the Blue background is JWS and the other is Wilm.

The interesting thing about these two crosses is the positioning of the core in the frame. If you compare the two i.e. where the oaks, date meet the frame, look at the space on the right of the crown, these are almost identical, even the overflow of metal in the inner corners seem to be similar. What are the odds of all these factors being equal across the board?

            Yes, I have no life

Really interesting. They are 100% identical as far as I can see.

                A couple of possibilities...

Wilm or JWS manufactured/sold/traded crosses with each other
                which seems more likely.

JWS isn't from the maker we thought it was from?

What else do we know about Wilm? I only know that he/they made EK2's? I've never seen an EK1 marked with this maker & I really wouldn't know how to i.d an unmarked one?

Is Wilm a last name, shortened first name (Wilhelm)?

                Could be John Wilm Smith

If anyone has any info on either of these makers please post it.

Back to the "JWS"-About the 1st class....Who's got one? I've seen just two of them at all (maker marked)-the one in my collection and the other one from my mentors collection when he sold his stuff at ebay.interesting is that both crosses have got the same core but different pins!
